MECEE is an entrance examination conducted for providing admission in medical postgraduate courses in Nepalese NMC/MCI-recognized institutes that is equivalent to NBE in India. MECEE is a common entrance examination through which institutes like B.P Koirala Institute of Health Sciences and Tribhuvan University-Institute of Medicine provide MD/MS admission in Nepal.
Indian students have to appear for the MECEE examination to pursue an MD/MS in Nepal. Qualified students will get admission to various specialties at the institution of their choice. MECEE is conducted by the Nepal Medical Education Board. It is an online examination organized to provide admission among participating institutes across Nepal. It is held once a year.
The duration of the Examination is three hours. The question paper of MECEE consists of multiple-choice questions. The Fees for application form for Indian students is 8000 INR.

Indian student’s desires to study MD MS in Nepal at Maharaj Ganj Medical Campus (Institute of Medicine), in Kathmandu Valley have to meet the requirements to join the institute.
All admissions to this institute are selected purely based on merits. Earlier, PG admission was provided on the basis of the entrance examination conducted by the IOM-Tribhuvan University but now it is totally based on the scores and performance of the MECEE Entrance Examination. Candidates must have to pass the examination to get admission to MD or MS courses.

BPKIHS, one of the reputed institutes in Nepal was established in 1993. In five years, the institute was upgraded to a Health Science University (autonomous). The university is committed to improving the healthcare workforce, and social development, focusing on research, and providing health care services.
The institute is named after the visionary leader of Nepal, Bisheshwar Prasad Koirala. BPKIHS institute envisaged a successful India–Nepal Co-operation. Health Ministers of both countries have signed an agreement to establish BPKIHS.
All postgraduate programs are started in the year 1999. All the PG medical degrees offered by this university are duly recognized by the Nepal Medical Council and related medical councils.
Before the MEC Entrance Examination, the university conducts its own entrance exam for MD and MS. Separate exams are conducted for Indian students. However, from the year 2020 MECEE is a common entrance examination conducted by the Nepal Medical Education Board to provide MD/ MS in Nepal. Admission is provided purely on the basis of merit, the basis of the rank. Application form for entrance exam and admission is available in the month of September every year. The entrance exam is conducted in the month of October every year.
Application forms for the MECEE will be available in September 2023 for admission in various specializations of medicine. The application form for the session MD MS in Nepal 2022 has been closed.
Since the course curriculum is very similar to the Indian medical system, Indian students can easily get admission to MD MS in Nepal. The cost of education is very low when compared with India.
